Thor Peak on the Trail to Mount Whitney, John Muir Wilderness, Inyo National Forest, California (May 2018)

In May 2018, two friends and I set out to hike Mount Whitney, which at 14,505 feet, is the tallest peak in the contiguous United States. It was an endeavor. The travel, the camping, the gear, and the hiking took many months of preparation, planning, and training. We had a clear-cut objective, to summit the tallest peak in the lower 48 states. All three of us were coming from the eastern United States. The acclimatization to altitude was tough, the hike was over 20-miles in length round trip. We did the hike in one-day, using crampons and ice axes to go up the “Chute,” a steep, sloping section of snow that would lead us to a col on the ridge-line. From there, we would have a clear path to the summit. At that altitude, even small steps were laborious. Some acclimatize better than others. At one point, we saw someone trail running up the “Chute” and to the summit. We did it, methodically, one step at a time. What an experience, I would love to do it again!

My approach to business employs many of the same skills that I use to hike mountains. Know your underlying mission, identify the specific objective(s), prepare relentlessly, review the plan, and then let nothing stand in your way. I love helping people, I want you to accomplish your goals. I want your project, your permit, or your plan to go from concept to “yes, approved!” To me, you are more than invoice and more than a paycheck. You, and your project, are part of my mission. I can help you accomplish your goals. Let’s get it done.

Best,
